"Neutrons are uncharged particles. These little guy is the brother of Proton and Electron. While the two have a positive and negative charge respectively, neutrons have no charge at all. These little guys also add atomic weight to an element. Once released off a nuclear process (may it be fusion or fission) it moves at near c velocity (c is the speed of light). Anything in it's path will be destroyed or broken down since matter cannot be destroyed nor made, only converted (Conservation of Mass). If it hits another unstable element, it may lead into a chain reaction. This is the principle of the nuclear reactor (The common ones.).

The diagram shown is a fission diagram where U-235, reactor-grade uranium, absorbs a Neutron, turning it into U-236, a super unstable isotope, and it breaks down into two different elements plus some neutrons which hits another U-235 molecule, continuing the process and creating a chain reaction.

Nuclear Fission creates a whole lot of mEvs, the measurement for the energy created in quantum physics, I know it's in the 200 mEv range but not so sure about that. Oh, and that's per particle. So if multiplied by Avogadro's Number, it's a whole lot of energy. About 300KW per mole in my estimate."
